This article made me laugh out loud. I am cheered to know that there is at least one other person in the world who does this! How many times, I wonder, has one of my family members commented on the plot of whatever's on the screen, to receive my response of 'Ooh! Nice Dizygotheca elegantissima!'--? (There is one that makes periodic appearances on 'Quincy'. Hey, it's an exciting life.)
How did Lorne Greene get those lovely parlor palms all the way to the Ponderosa...? And what is that flowering tree that grows by its front door?? ETC....ad infinitum!

You'd think that for 'Star Trek' plants would have, could easily have, been chosen that looked genuinely alien. Bat flower (Tacca chantrieri) and any number of geometric succulents, ones that grow in mind-boggling patterns....Crassulas like 'Buddha's Temple' defy belief.

    Anyway---ENJOY!
